COPE PASSAGE - BREAKERS

Vessels using Cope Passage should exercise extreme caution
and not attempt passage over the bar between Berneray and
Killegray (5745'N, 709'W) in adverse weather conditions.
The bar consists of shifting sand and is shown in its
approximate position in 2004. With fresh onshore winds,
dangerous breakers which may be very difficult to see,
rapidly develop close off the steep seaward side of the bar.
For further information on routes and dangers, mariners
should consult Admiralty Sailing Directions.
