FERRY TRAFFIC

Ferries operating to/from Loch Ryan Port and the Port of Cairnryan
transit using the deeper water found in the anchoring prohibited area.

Due to the high concentration of ferry traffic, including high speed
craft, it is recommended that vessels maintain a listening watch on
VHF in order to receive prior warning of ferry movements. See Admiralty
List of Radio Signals for further details.

Some high speed ferries may generate large waves, which can have a
serious impact on small craft and their moorings close to the shoreline
and on shallow off-lying banks. For further details, see Annual Notice
to Mariners Number 23.
